Joan of Arcadia

Yesterday I went to the store. An old man I walked past asked, "Can I see what you've got there?" I said sure and he went about to look at my baby. He smiled really big and just gazed. After a few seconds, he made comments asking if it was a boy and then saying, "It has to be," and smiling again. It sounds weird as I type it, but it was one of the most touching things to hear. "You're taking good care of him," he said as he looked up at me and smiled. I couldn't help but feel all warm and happy. Then he bent down to my son, said a few words of wisdom, and finished off with "...and get a good education!" Oh, it cracked me up at the same time as touching my heart.

I recently started watching the show "Joan of Arcadia". It's about a teenage girl who is visited by God, who shows Himself in many different forms. I couldn't help but wonder if perhaps God actually does this. I wonder if He actually appears as a man or woman just so He can say something to us without us being all weird, or just so He can make our day go a little easier. Of course, then I transferred thoughts into God speaking through us, telling us what He wanted from us and it being up to us whether we did so. Either way, whether it was God just giving me a pat on the back Himself, or whether it was an old man obeying the nudge he felt, I was incredibly grateful. It was something I needed to hear at just that point in time.
