Childish ponderings

Jesus told us to have child-like faith. For many, this makes them think being more like a child is a good thing. However, the Bible also says there is a season for everything--another way of looking at it would be "everything in moderation". Child-like faith can also get us into trouble, if we are so childish as to believe anything that is put in front of us.

In 1 Chronicles 13:11, it says "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a hcild, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

When I think about the world we live in today, there are few things that I would not register as childish. Especially in the west, we live our lives to grow up, become adults, and be on our own. We are so eager to leave behind our childhood, so eager to be our own masters, and when we get there, we get ourselves in trouble. It seems that the older we get, the more childish we become--having to have our way, jumping into situations without thinking them over, borrowing money with no means to pay it back, etc.

I'm not sure what the point is here. When I read that verse, it struck me. Now, I am simply meditating on it and the other verses of childishness.
