Thanks to genetics and upbringing, I am a movie fan. I love learning about the actors and seeing what other movies they have done. Giddiness attacks me when I realize one of my favorite actors is in a movie I loved as a child, or when I actually recognize a cartoon character's voice. Whenever I wonder about anyone or anything in this realm, I delve into imdb.com, amongst other places, and do lots of research.
This morning I had a revelation--if I spent near as much time, energy, and/or passion into getting to know God...wow, what a place I would be in!

How true this is! My thing seems to be math problems and I notice that I've started forming my own game, which is a mixture of high school mathematics and improv theater (I'm calling it "Whose Lesson Plan Is It Anyway?"), where I think of a mathematical topic off the top of my head and start launching in to how I would teach it to my students. And, yes, I agree with the conclusion. Just think if I spent a fraction of that effort and poured it into my walk with God! In fact, I'd even conjecture that most of us battle idols on a regular basis: those that call Christ their Savior and love Him dearly still struggle with misguided satisfaction. I suppose that's where boatloads of His mercy come into play. :)
